"The Kiwanis Club of Labelle was chartered on August 15th, 1979. Here's a little story about how the Thrift Store got started:
The U.S. flag proudly flies 24 hours a day atop the Thrift Stores long, narrow building on Bridge Street as loaded trucks and cars zip by. It wasn't that way when "Brown Tiger" had his sawmill on the site..."
The first Kiwanis clubs were organized to promote the exchange of business among the members. However, the members were distributing Christmas baskets to the poor. A lively debate ensued between those who supported community service as the Kiwanis mission and those who supported the exchange of business. By 1919, the service advocates won the debate...
LaBelle Kiwanis Club members are a great group of volunteers that work hard to make positive changes in our community. We are proud to sponsor the annual Kiwanis Kid's Day event held at the Barron Park in the fall. The Kiwanis Club of LaBelle has sponsored this event for over 20 years! Hundreds of kids have a great time.
“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove . . .
But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
